The extra virgin olive oil made by the Sant Isidre Cooperative of Borges Blanques, the best in Spain according to the Torres brothers.
‘We personally have travelled all over Spain in search of the perfect oil, and after trying many, we have to say that we’ll stick with the one made by the Sant Isidre Cooperative of Borges Blanques in the Catalan county of Les Garrigues, in the province of Lleida’, affirm Javier and Sergio Torres.
Few
pleasures can be compared to the pleasure of tasting a good extra virgin olive
oil, our country’s liquid gold. In this case it has been Sergio and Javier, the
Torres brothers, well-known chefs who have participated in culinary programmes
on multiple occasions, who have put this oil from our land on the Spanish map.
According to the brothers, in an interview published recently in a nationally
distributed newspaper, olive oil, especially extra virgin olive oil, is highly
prized by chefs around the world for its aromatic flavour, in addition to being
beneficial for our bodies due to the monounsaturated fatty acids and
antioxidant compounds it contains.
In this case, the Torres brothers themselves have travelled all over Spain to
find the perfect oil and after trying many, they have decided to vouch for the
one made by the Sant Isidre Cooperative of Borges Blanques in the county of Les
Garrigues.
The brothers assert that this oil “is capable of binding sauces much better
than any other and also adds a very special flavour”.
The oil made by the Sant Isidre Cooperative of Borges Blanques, a cooperative
with over 100 years of history, belongs to the Regulatory Board of the Les
Garrigues Designation of Protected Origin and is produced using a careful
selection of arbequina olives from the Les Garrigues area.
